TMJ & Jaw Pain

Relief for jaw pain

Clicking, locking, headaches, clenching, worn teeth — we diagnose and treat the cause of TMJ/TMD comfortably, and in person.

Signs of a TMJ disorder

  • Jaw pain, soreness, or tenderness — especially in the morning
  • Clicking, popping, or your jaw locking open or shut
  • Frequent headaches or aching around the temples and ears
  • Clenching or grinding, and teeth that are wearing down
  • Pain or fatigue when chewing

We treat the cause, comfortably

TMJ disorders (TMD) come from the joint, the muscles, the bite, or a mix of all three. Dr. Delgado evaluates what's actually driving your pain and builds a plan around it — most often a custom oral orthotic or splint that takes pressure off the joint and calms the muscles, worn while it does its work.

Splints, explained simply

  • Stabilization splint — the everyday workhorse for clenching and muscle pain.
  • Repositioning splint — guides the jaw when the joint is clicking or catching.
  • Anterior / deprogrammer — small devices that stop the clench and retrain the muscles.

Honest care

Splints work best alongside conservative care — gentle physical therapy, habit changes, anti-inflammatories, and sometimes Botox — not instead of it. We'll build the simplest plan that gives you real relief.

Insurance

Depending on your case, TMJ care may be billed to dental or medical insurance. We'll review your coverage and explain your options before treatment begins.

Good to know

Common questions

Will I need a splint forever?

Usually not. Many splints are worn while the joint and muscles calm down, then tapered. The goal is lasting relief, not a permanent device.

Can you help with clenching and grinding?

Yes — clenching and grinding (bruxism) are among the most common causes of jaw pain and worn teeth, and a custom night guard or splint is a frontline treatment.

Do you offer Botox for jaw pain?

For some muscle-driven TMD, masticatory Botox is a helpful add-on. We'll tell you honestly whether it fits your case.

Is this covered by insurance?

It depends on your plan and diagnosis — TMJ care may use dental or medical benefits. We verify coverage before you commit.
